Affordable Fuel Injection has developed Marine Fuel Injection Systems that meet the needs of our marine customers with great success. Our first marine fuel injection project was a 1998 Four Winns equipped with a 350 SBC Chevy engine. After fuel injection it was rated at 215 hp but when running at its peak reaches beyond that. Before the conversion the engine would occasionally foul out plugs while trolling, idling around when water skiing and using a lot of gas. Prior to the conversion with the power prop installed, it would take around 3/4 throttle to run 3200 RPMs and the top engine speed was 4000 RPMs. Now the engine uses 1/3 throttle for 3200 RPMs and the effect is the feeling of a much lighter load. Top speed of the engine is 4600 RPMs and running strong. The system provides a strong start up with no stalls or restarts. It also uses 1/3 less fuel than it did before the conversion. Fuel Injection conversion kits can be programmed to run either regular or premium fuel. These systems are yet to be Coast Guard certified on their own. We do use a coast guard approved marine fuel pump, and the system is compatible with existing spark arresters. It is up to the customer to provide USCG approved fuel lines and installation. |
